Hello. I was wondering how you came up with the name "Suha" is that the name of the real person?
Hello and thank you for your question about my film. I named the character in my after a song by a grab band called XIU XIU. They have a song named SUHA and although the song is about an entirely different situation I somehow thought it would be a nice way to pay homage to a wonderful band that has filled me with much inspiration.
You should check out XIU XU, they are amazing musicians and great people. I was also lucky enough to have them compose some music for my first documentary called FEEDING THE RAGING HEART. Hope this answers your question…
Dearest friends and collaborators, SUHA is up for nomination at the SAN DIEGO INDIEFEST for the Audience Choice Prize! If you’d like to vote for it on FACEBOOK then just follow this LINK and then find the post on that page with the title of my film (SUHA) and then LIKE that post. There’s also a ton of other good films playing that deserve a vote so go nuts! Thank you all for your continued support and generosity on this crazy project of mine!
I’m thrilled to report that SUHA has been selected by the SAN DIEGO INDIEFEST! If you are gonna be in the area this march then I highly recommend getting all the info for the screening on the INDIEFEST WEBSITE. Hope to see you there…enjoy!
This was my piece for the “HOMMAGE A LA VILLE” exhibit curated by Clement Yeh. The piece is a visual study for the feature length film which I am adapting from the recent 8 minute film.
SUHA recently screened at “Chez Pops, Dans la rue” thanks to the RVCQ who joined forces with “ LES JOURNÉES DE LA CULTURE” here in Montreal. There was a great selection of shorts including Vincent Biron’s film “LES FLEURS DE L’AGE” which recently won the best Canadian short film prize at TIFF.
SUHA is a short film, which depicts the life of a young graffiti writer as she marks her way through Montreal’s graffiti art sub-culture. SUHA’s diaristic accounts unfold through her self-discovering narration which is delivered as a soliloquy unbeknown to her.
We are currently developing a feature length version of SUHA and our progress can be followed on this blog. Enjoy!
